Australia take-home pay calculator 2026–27
Estimate annual and per-pay cash after resident Income Tax, the low income tax offset, Medicare levy and an optional HELP repayment, with salary-sacrificed super shown separately.
What this Australian salary estimate includes
The calculator applies the 2026–27 resident individual tax rates to taxable salary, then subtracts the low income tax offset where available. It calculates the standard Medicare levy using the 2026–27 single low-income threshold and phase-in rule. HELP uses the marginal repayment system that starts above the indexed minimum repayment income.
Salary sacrifice reduces cash salary and taxable income in this model. It does not reduce the displayed 12% super guarantee estimate because an effective salary-sacrifice arrangement must not be used to reduce an employer’s super guarantee obligation. The guarantee is shown as a separate employment benefit, not spendable cash.
Who the model is for
- An Australian resident employee with one steady salary for the full income year
- A person using the ordinary resident tax rates rather than working-holiday-maker or foreign-resident rates
- A single person with no dependants for the Medicare levy low-income calculation
- A borrower who wants a planning estimate of the compulsory HELP assessment
- An employee comparing cash pay with salary sacrificed into super
Important exclusions
The Medicare levy surcharge is not included because it depends on income for surcharge purposes, family status and appropriate private hospital cover. The model also leaves out private health insurance rebates, spouse and dependant rules, tax offsets other than LITO, fringe benefits tax, investment income, capital gains, deductions other than the selected standard work deduction, an outstanding study-loan balance smaller than the calculated repayment, and the super maximum contribution base.
